Above and Beyond.

I have been so busy lately that I have neglected to blog regularly. But I was reading 1 Samuel yesterday and felt like I needed to blog some stuff. I learned yesterday that I need to go above and beyond for the cause of Christ. Yes, I have been called to be the teacher sponsor of The Chill and to lead a small group at FUSE. But, how about other things that I could do to further the kingdom? I have been guilty in the past of saying that I am only going to do what God calls me to do, but that was almost always an excuse to be lazy in some way. God hit me with something in 1 Samuel 18:24-26.

"When Saul's men reported this back to the king, he told them 'Tell David that all I want for the bride price is 100 Philistine foreskins! Vengeance on my enemies is all I really want.' But what Saul had in mind was that David would be killed in the fight. David was delighted to accept the offer. Before the time limit expired, he and his men went out and killed 200 Philistines. Then David fulfilled the king's requirement by presenting all their foreskins to him."

1 Samuel 18:24-26 (NLT)

The king asked David (a man after God's own heart) to bring him 100 foreskins, which is a pretty gross request, but David brought him 200! God spoke to my heart and said "why are you only bringing me 100 when you could bring me 200?" Wow...such a weird passage for such a strong conviction from God!

So...after that I had to start examining myself and challenge you to do the same. After all, we can rest when we die! :)
1) God, what can I do better for you?
2) God, what are other things I can do for you?
3) Am I giving you 100 or 200?

I pray that God will convict and bring all of us closer to him today.

I WILL GO
